Drew Povey biography
Drew is a much sought-after speaker at conferences and leadership events, both nationally and internationally, on the concept of ‘multi-sector’ approaches to leadership. His unique view and approach have positioned him as an innovative leadership coach and facilitator. He has a wealth of experience through his coaching and work with leaders in education, the Police, the National Health Service, elite sport and international businesses. This extensive network of partnerships has led to the implementation of Drew’s philosophies and concepts across a wide range of customer-focused organisations.
As a highly skilled and experienced executive leader, Drew’s programmes for organisational improvement, development and growth have received phenomenal feedback by a range of leaders from various sectors.
Drew started his career as a classroom teacher, winning the prestigious ‘Teacher of the Year’ award, recognising him as an outstanding classroom practitioner with a focus on behaviour management. He then went on to be Executive Headteacher at Harrop Fold School where he worked on a programme of school improvement and mentoring with other Headteachers. In 2001, Harrop Fold School was regarded as one of the worst performing schools in the UK. Since his appointment into a senior role in 2005 and then Head teacher in 2010, up until his departure in September 2018, Drew and the other members of ‘Team Harrop’ successfully raised the exam results to the best in the school’s history, an Ofsted rating from Special Measures to Good, and improving the attitudes and behaviour of students, all of which was key to the school’s improvement – all achieved against the backdrop of what was the country’s largest school budget deficit.
The school became nationally renowned through the BAFTA award winning hit TV series Educating Greater Manchester.
He is a also a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (FILM). In recognition for his work with children, young people and families Drew was invited to Buckingham Palace.
"Drew was brilliant. We had an audience of 100, mostly small building companies who were very sceptical of a head teacher talking for two hours. All loved the session and felt they would take positive information back into their business. I would highly recommend him!"Lee Sadowski, Managing Director, Crawford and Company
